BEHAVIOURAL ECOLOGY (BE) GROUP HAS A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH BRAZIL

Coordinated by Marta Soares, a new partnership has been established between the Behavioural Ecology (BE) Group and two Brazilian institutions - the Laboratory of Professor Leonardo Barcellos, who presented a seminar at CIBIO-InBIO in November last year, at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF), and the Laboratory of Professor Carlos Ferreira, at Fluminense Federal University (UFF),with the main purpose of studying the behaviour of coral reef fishes.

Universidade de Passo Fundo, through its post-graduation programmes, is involved in several projects, one of which - “The influence of ecological and anthropogenic factors in the behaviour, physiology and health of reef fishes” - resulted from a partnership between UPF, UFF, University of Lisbon and CIBIO-InBIO/University of Porto. The key goal of this study is to identify the behaviour observerd in fishes that inhabit coral reefs following climate changes and man-made water movement.

This work follows the research developed by Marta Reis, Marta Soares’ student, during her Master degree project.
