From the lab to the classroom: microbiology and experimental education

An in-service secondary school teacher training course @ FCUP

Experimental teaching and the training of teachers with the purpose of enhancing their skills regarding the implementation of laboratory activities adapted to elementary and high school science curricula, are essential to encourage science and technology Education therefore contributing to raise the students’ scientific literacy and their aptitude to take informed decisions about socio-scientific issues. 

In this context, this teacher training course, organized by FCUP in collaboration with CIBIO-InBIO, aims to meet the needs of biology teachers concerning experimental education. Structured on a strong and diverse laboratory component and framed within an updated theoretical knowledge basis, this course encourages the trainees to develop their own experimental designs, aiming to contribute to overcome common constraints, such as limitations in equipment and resources.
