Mariana Filipe

I completed a Master's degree in Ecology and Environment (2021) where I developed a thesis about City-region food systems and the conservation of biodiversity focusing on the potential impacts of food system relocalisation on the environmental sustainability of the agrarian region of Entre-Douro-e-Minho. This research was developed in a Geographical Information Systems, using a foodshed approach, and it was an excellent opportunity to deepen my knowledge regarding food system sustainability, agroecosystems, landscape ecology and biodiversity conservation.

Currently, I am part of the team involved in the supporting activities aiming implementation of the Regional Protected Landscape of Serra da Aboboreira in northwestern Portugal.

My goal is to improve my skills and contribute to the study of the synergies between agroecosystems and biodiversity conservation, as well as the provision of other agriculture and agroforestry ecosystem services.

My main research interests are Landscape ecology, Agroecology, Ecosystem Services, Socio-Ecological Systems, Spatial Analysis and Geographical Information Systems.
