I am an evolutionary ecologist interested in animal social behaviour and the mechanisms underlying its plasticity and diversity. My main research focusses on the study of social interactions between family members. I am deeply interested in animal communication, the evolution of animal signals, and the evolutionary processes that shape their adaptation to the environment. At CIBIO, I will investigate the role of cooperation in sexual mate choice in Sociable Weavers (Philetairus socius), in the Sociality group working with Rita Covas and Claire Doutrelant.

Since I started as a biologist, my interests have been related to animal behaviour and evolutionary ecology, mostly focused on birds. I obtained my degree in Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid. After finishing my degree, I studied a Master's in Animal Behaviour at the Pablo de Olavide University of Seville, and I did my final master's project at the Doñana Biological Station (EBD/CSIC). Finally, I obtained my PhD under the supervision of Judith Morales from the National Museum of Natural Sciences-CSIC (Madrid, Spain) and Wendt Müller from the University of Antwerp (Belgium).
