Hello! My name is João, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Biodiversity, Genetics, and Evolution at the University of Porto. Following on from my undergraduate degree in Biology, I have developed a keen interest in the fields of ecology and genetics. These topics have always piqued my interest since they provide a unique opportunity to investigate the deep relationships between organisms and their environments.
Throughout my academic journey, I have been fortunate enough to research various aspects of biodiversity and its underlying genetic mechanisms. From studying intricate ecological networks to exploring the fascinating patterns of genetic diversity within populations, my passion for understanding the complexity of life has only grown stronger.
I am currently working on a small mammal research project in Guinea-Bissau. This project combines my interests in conservation and genetics, allowing me to gain valuable insights into the mechanisms that drive species diversity. By conducting field surveys, collecting genetic samples, and using advanced molecular techniques, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the drivers behind the diversity of small mammal populations in our research area.
Throughout my professional career, I hope to make significant contributions to the fields of ecology and genetics. I am motivated by a strong desire to comprehend the complex web of life, and thus I am eager to continue uncovering its mysteries during my master's studies and beyond.
