SPRINGER HIGHLIGHTS CIBIO-InBIO RESEARCHERS’ WORK ON THE GIANT SABLE ANTELOPE

The work on the giant sable antelope carried out by the CIBIO-InBIO team – Pedro Vaz Pinto, Susana Lopes, Sofia Mourão, Pedro Beja, Nuno Ferrand and Raquel Godinho, published on January 2015 by the European Journal of Wildlife Research has been highlighted on the Facebook page of Springer Animal Sciences. By developing a set of 57 microsatellites specific for the critically endangered giant sable, the team was able to identify depleted levels of genetic diversity and molecular signals of severe population crashes.
