NEW SCIENCE CENTER IN ANGOLA SUPPORTED BY CIBIO-INBIO CALLS MEDIA ATTENTION

The Angolan city of Lubango received in early October the visit of experts from CIBIO-InBIO and the University of Porto, who evaluated the physical structure of the old city’s train station, to be adapted to host a Science and Technology Museum / Center.

The future museum will comprise the scientific collections (botany and zoology) of the ISCED (Higher Institute of Educational Sciences), preserved by the Lubango Herbarium, as well as the technological heritage and collection of the Moçâmedes Railway. The UNESCO Chair Life on Land, coordinated by CIBIO-InBIO, is the strategic partner in this process, with regard to the biodiversity component.

The main objective of the Chair is to stimulate the TwinLabs Network - Twinned Laboratories - of CIBIO-InBIO in Africa. In addition to Angola, Cape Verde, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique are also part of this collaborative network
