MIGUEL B. ARAÚJO DISTINGUISHED WITH THE PRIZE REY JAIME I 2016 FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN SPAIN
In a ceremony that took place on November 24, 2016, Miguel B. Araújo, who is currently Visiting Full Professor at CIBIO-InBIO/University of Évora and Coordinating Researcher at the Spanish Superior Council for Scientific Research, was distinguished for his outstanding research on the impact of climate change in biodiversity.
Miguel has been involved in the elaboration of several reports on the impact of climate change in protected areas for the Portuguese and Spanish government and the European Council. His work has been highly recognized, leading him to be one of the few Portuguese researchers mentioned by Thomson Reuters as "Highly Cited".
According to Miguel, “this recognition is also for my students and collaborators. It is a great support to carry on with the studies on the connection between climate and biodiversity, which can allow us to understand its implications on the future of our planet”.
