CIBIO-InBIO RESEARCH ON DOMESTIC CATTLE ORIGINS IN THE IBERIAN PENINSULA CALLS MEDIA ATTENTION

According to Catarina Ginja, this project has as a "primary reference event" the agricultural revolution of the Neolithic ten thousand years ago, when Man began to control his own food and animals. The main goals are “to understand the demographic processes that gave rise to this region's autochthonous breeds” and “describe the variation related to phenotypic traits such as genes responsible for coat color and meat characteristics".

This research also counts with the participation of other researchers from CIBIO-InBIO, the Center of Archeology of the University of Lisbon (UNIARQ), and the Archaeosciences Laboratory of Direção-Geral do Património Cultural.
