TiBE 2011 | New challenges in Conservation Genetics

TiBE, Trends in Biodiversity an Evolution, is an annual meeting organized by CIBIO-InBIO and aims to bring together senior researchers, post-graduate and graduate studentsworking on the field of evolutionary biology to present and discuss cutting-edge findings in relevant topics related with speciation, molecular evolution, comparative genomics, population and conservation genetics research, among others. Held in an informal but stimulating scientific atmosphere, these conferences provide an excellent opportunity for strong interaction and brainstorming between students and more experienced researchers.

TiBE 2011 will be devoted to "New Challenges in Conservation Genetics", a discipline which has received considerable attention in recent years by evolutionary biologists, and has voraciously incorporated many technologies to speed up and increase the accuracy of conservation decision-making.

These conferences will take place on 5 – 6 of December in Campus Agrário de Vairão, University of Porto, and will be hosted by CONGEN-Conservation Genetics and Wildlife Management research group, at CIBIO.

Session 1: POPULATION GENETICS AND CONSERVATION (I)

Session 2: POPULATION GENETICS AND CONSERVATION (II)

Session 3: POPULATION GENETICS AND CONSERVATION (III)

Session 4: FROM CONSERVATION GENETICS TO CONSERVATION GENOMICS
Plenary lecture: Targeted population genomics in non-model species. Jeffrey M. Good (Department of Biological Sciences, University of Montana, USA).
