SPECIATION AND THE WEB OF LIFE

From the 10th to the 13th of March, CIBIO-InBIO will host the advanced course SPECIATION AND THE WEB OF LIFE, by Michael L. Arnold.

Speciation and the web of life

The goals of this course are to
1) (re-)introduce the students to some of the canonical literature concerning the process of speciation and
2) discuss the new paradigm represented by the web-of-life metaphor.
The second goal will be accomplished by using Mike’s book (Arnold, M.L. 2006. Evolution Through Genetic Exchange, Oxford University Press) as a distillation of many studies of natural hybridization, lateral exchange and viral recombination.

This course is aimed at students attending the 1st year of the BIODIV Doctoral Program, but there will be a number of vacancies available for other interested participants, pending on the number of BIODIV students registered.
