I have a wide variety of interests in Biology, extending from Biodiversity and Ecology to Evolution. Animals, plants and virus have my attention, but spiders have always amazed me. Spiders are fascinating predators. They use a big variety of preying techniques, exhibit a wide range of behaviours and use one of nature's most impressive materials, the spider's silk. I work with Portuguese arachnids (excluding Acari), mostly spiders, and with Iberian and Moroccan Buthus scorpions. In spiders, the families which attract me most are Sparassidae, Lycosidae, Philodromidae and Araneidae (in this order).
