I obtained my BSc in Biology (2012) and MSc in Ecology, Environment and Territory (2014) both from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. In 2014, I started collaborating with projects related to archaeobotany from several chronologies and geographic areas in Portugal.

From late 2018 to 2022, I worked on my PhD project (funded by the Lorraine Université D’Excellence programme) at the University of Lorraine (Metz, France) about historical charcoal production. The project consisted in a long narrative of characterization of charcoal production in lowlands from NE France and encompassed the quantification of charcoal platforms through LiDAR images, taxonomic identification of wood harvested for charcoal production and the legacies of the activity in the environment still perceived today.

My research focuses on the connection between humans and the exploitation of plant resources (especially wood), from the daily activities to industrial activities and how these past interactions still affect present-day ecosystems.

At the moment, I am a research assistant at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and a researcher at Environmental Archaeology group at CIBIO.
