Palinology and soil charcoal analysis in the settlement of Crestelos – Sabor Valley
Palynological and pedoanthracological analyses were carried out in the site of Crestelos in the context of a developer-funded project related to the building of the Baixo Sabor dam.
Crestelos is an important site occupied from the Chalcolithic to the Middle Ages. Two columns of sediment were excavated and recovered in order to obtain valuable palaeoenvironmental data. One was located in the site and the other in the site’s vicinities. Charcoal, fruits/seeds and pollen were identified in both sequences.
