CIBIO-InBIO RESEARCH IN MINDELO WAS HIGHLIGHTED BY NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

National Geographic Portugal accompanied an expedition and witnessed the amount and diversity of amphibians found in Mindelo Ornithologic Reserve. The in-depth reporting that resulted from this reveals the research carried out there by CIBIO-InBIO researchers.

Angelica Crottini is supervising PhD student Bárbara Santos in a project aiming at characterizing the bacterial communities present on the skin and in the digestive tract of amphibians.

Guillermo Velo-Antón has been studying the Fire Salamander population in Mindelo. Together with Bastian Egeter, he also supervises Master student Sara Peixoto focused on amphibian detection using environmental DNA from waters samples.

This article is illustrated with photos by Javier Lobón-Rovira, also a CIBIO-InBIO researcher.
