My research focuses on the relationship through time between human and animal in their environment, as reflected in faunal assemblages recovered from archaeological sites in Iberia, and North Africa (Morocco).

During field work abroad, I identify faunal remains on the spot and participate in the excavation and sampling processes. At the Archaeosciences Laboratory in Lisbon, I undertake comparative osteological studies of modern skeletons of closely related vertebrate species with the aim of defining diagnostic criteria for the identification of isolated bone fragments recovered from archaeological sites (mainly fish).

With the results of my research I aim to contribute to the study of how biodiversity, ecology and human impact on aquatic environments have changed through time.
