Salvador completed a PhD in Biology (2012) from the University of Cordoba (Spain). As a PhD student, his research focused on the study of the influence of traditional land use management on population structure and spatial patterns of wild fleshy-fruited species. To address his research questions, he applied concepts and tools from different disciplines such as population ecology and conservation biology, with a deeply knowledge on dendroecology, biogeography and spatial ecology, as well as remote sensing and GIS techniques applied to environmental sciences. He then obtained several postdoctoral contracts in the Area of Ecology of the department of Botany, Ecology and Plant Physiology (Faculty of Sciences, University of Cordoba, Spain) and at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic) (Project ESF and MEYS CZ.1.07/2.3.00/30.0040 (Postdok ČZU).

Currently, his research focus the detection of changes in biodiversity patterns, from the species to the ecosystem and landscape levels, according to forecasted climate and land uses at different multi-scale approaches. Specifically, among other aims, he is interested in understanding how the climate and land use changes are influencing on distribution pattern of vegetation, and what consequences it may have for the stability of ecosystems and socio-ecological benefits that they provide.

Salvador is colaborating in the H2020 Project ECOPOTENTIAL – improving future provision of ecosystem benefits through earth observations.
