I'm currently a Post-Doc researcher focused on avian genetics & biodiversity, including several research interests:
1. Effect of recent artificial and natural expansions of distribution on the long term genetic viability of endangered populations of the Purple Galinulle (Porphyrio porphyrio).
2. Genetic migration dynamics of Dunlin (Calidris alpina) populations, along the East Atlantic flyway.
3. Impact of anthropogenic factors (e.g. eutrophication, heavy metals, loss of habitat) on the long-term viability of waterbirds and on the conservation of their habitats (e.g. salinas and mudflats).
4. Providing ornithological contents on the Internet to assist the learning of Ecology and Biology concepts for the educational system in Portugal.
