I’m MSc in Conservation Biology for the University of Évora with the thesis: Determining factors of space use and choice of den location by the otter (Lutra lutra) in Mediterranean environments ". From 2010 to the present I’ve worked in several research projects concerning: how the patch and matrix properties affect the local occurrence of voles across gradients of agricultural intensification [PERSIST (PTDC/BIA-BEC/105110/2008)], impacts of both climate and land use changes on the distribution of biota at landscape scale ["Biodiversity Conservation in a changing world (IC&DT Nº 1/SAESCTN/ALENT-07 – 0224-FEDER–001755)], impacts of railways on terrestrial vertebrates in a Mediterranean landscape ["Fauna Monitoring Plan in South Line, railway variant between Pinheiro station and 94 km”], and metapopulation persistence as response to the structure of habitat-networks and the composition of the surrounding matrix [NETPERSIST(PTDC/AAG-MAA/3227/2012)]. My main research interests are Conservation Biology and Landscape Ecology, namely: habitat loss and fragmentation in agricultural landscapes, impact of human infrastructures on fauna, species conservation and management (particularly bats and medium-sized carnivores). Currently I am a research fellow (biologist) at the Conservation Biology Lab, Biology Department, University of Évora within the framework of the project "LIFE LINES – Linear Infrastructure Networks with Ecological Solutions - LIFE14 NAT/PT/001081”.
