I finished my graduation in Biology at the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto in 2016. During my last year of graduation, I did an internship at CIBIO on the genetic diversity of microsatellites linked to AMY genes in canids.

Currently, I am a MSc student in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution at CIBIO. On my project, I am evaluating the use of SNPs for monitoring the brown bear population in the Cantabrian Mountains using non-invasive samples. Also, I’m applying different methods to efficiently assess the history and demography of this species, relying on invasive and non-invasive sampling.

My main research interests are the evolutionary history of species, and I’m particularly focused on the Cantabrian brown bears (Ursus arctos).
