I'm a young Biologist interested in evolutionary processes. I'm currently applying for a PhD position in a project in CIBIO-InBIO, University of Porto, where I aim to study heterothermy in desert animals. I finished my Master's in Molecular and Cell Biology, in which I studied the Regucalcin Evolution and Gene Function, at IBMC, in the Phenotypic Evolution team. At my Bachelor's in Animal Science and Technology I performed a 3 month internship at Stolt Sea Farm, where studied the influence of the diet's composition and water quality on the turbot's (Psetta massima) body composition. In 2016 I performed ERASMUS+ mobility at Czech University of life Sciences, in Prague. My main areas of interests are: - Molecular Biology - I Have experience in DNA and RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis and HPLC analysis. - Phenotypic Evolution and Genetics - I worked with transgenicRNAi and GAL4/GAL80 Drosophila melanogaster flies as a model organism. I cross bred them, I performed phenotypic analyses in adults and in pupae (eye color, wing type, body color, sex). I also know how to analysephylogenetic trees with around 500 species sequences and adapt them into cladograms (which I construct myself). - Bioinformatics - I can predict a protein's 3D structure and see its interaction networks with otherproteins (interactomes), predict interaction active and passive docking sites and its bonding strength. Also I can analyse the Positive Selected Sites and mark them on the protein's structure. - Animal Sciences - I can analyse the physicochemical proprieties of sea and freshwater, manage operations in an extensive aquaculture production and animal handling (feeding, water conducts, health measures) I'm planning todevelop my career in the combining fields: - molecular biology, genetics and bioinformatics (gene editing techniques, gene sequencing), evolutionary biology and ecophysiology, zoology (particularly in exotic pets, species conservation, species manipulation), epidemiology and climate change solutions.
