I’m a biologist with a master’s degree in Ecology, Environment and Territory, from the University of Porto, Portugal. I concluded my PhD studies at CIBIO-InBIO BIOPOLIS in 2018, within the BioDiv doctoral program. From 2019 to 2021, I developed a post-doctoral Juan de La Cierva (Formación) contract at Universidad de Granada, funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (Spain). Since mid-2021, I am a Junior Researcher at CIBIO-InBIO BIOPOLIS, funded by the National Foundation for Science and Technology.

As a researcher my scientific project focuses on advancing the scientific fields of conservation culturomics and iEcology, using digital data shared online to evaluate and monitor human-nature interactions (including wildlife-trade and cultural ecosystem services) and drivers of environmental change (including invasive alien species, climate change, and wildfires).

Currently, I’m the co-PI of the research group InvasionS at CIBIO, and the chair of the Ecosystem Services Working Group from Global Earth Observation Network (GEOBON). I’m the PI of the FCT-funded project ClimateMedia, about monitoring climate change from online digital data, and the coordinator of CIBIO’s team at the Horizon Europe SELINA project about supporting natural capital decision-making through science-based evidence.
