Playing Evolution

Playing Evolution
This project aims to develop and test didactic activities to teach evolution to elementary schools’ students.

With this set of activities we hope to encourage young children to think about evolutionary processes making them understand that biodiversity results from a long evolutionary history.
Though biodiversity and hereditability are present in the Official Program for Elementary Schools, evolution and the concepts behind are not transmitted in the classrooms. This situation results from the absence of clear indications to explore evolution and from the lack of didactic material related to this theme. As the Official Program includes hands-on experiments on anatomophysiology, ecology or taxonomy and given that "nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution” (T. Dobzhansky), the kit developed under this project will create opportunities for teachers to teach evolution in Elementary Schools.
