microBIO 12 – from the lab to the classroom

microBIO 12 is a project which seeks to promote relevant conceptual and procedural learning in the scope of biology and scientific research in secondary school, through the development of laboratory activities.

Funded by Agência Ciência Viva – Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica, in the context of the programme Escolher Ciência, microBIO 12 is a project which seeks to promote relevant conceptual and procedural learning in the scope of biology and scientific research in secondary school, through the development of laboratory activities.

Associating the discussion of topics, such as antibiotic use and sun exposure habits, with a selection of microbiology techniques, it is intended that students:

- develop scientific knowledge, reasoning skills and laboratory competencies;

- develop an interest about laboratory practice and scientific research;

- are able to understand and position themselves critically towards the issues discussed;

- are acquainted with a set of notions useful for their academic and personal pathway.
