Her main research areas are evolutionary history, population and conservation genetics of wild equids. During her ongoing PhD, she has studied phylogeogaphic patterns and phylogenetic relationships among wild-ass species, using a non-invasive sampling approach. Additionally she is also focused on assessing fundamental genetic parameters for the survival of the world´s most endangered wild equid - the African wild ass (Equus africanus). She has particularly interested in the donkey domestication process and have been studying patterns of diversity in donkey populations from geographic regions of interest, in order to detect putative centers of origin for this animal.
