Sandra Aresta
Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination Officer
After my undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Genetics in the University of Lisbon, I have moved to France where I've obtained a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Paris XI University. I have then pursued a career in research both in academia (Institut Curie, Imperial College, CRCM-Marseille) and industry (Hybrigenics), mainly focused in the molecular aspects of intracellular signaling protein-protein networks in cancer related models. This dual experience in research institutes and a biotechnology company inclined me to make a career move into technology transfer. I believe that science and research are the key to improve our lives, and decided to dedicate my energy to increase their impact in society, by facilitating the dialogue and cooperation between academia and industry.
I have started this new path in 2007 at the Technology Transfer Department of Institut de Recherche pour le Développement, IRD, where I've been in charge of all aspects concerning IP protection of laboratory results, their promotion into the industry and the negotiation of licensing deals. I will now put my experience to the benefit of CIBIO-InBIO, and in particular the EnvMetaGen project and team, as the Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination Officer, and be responsible for communicating information about the progress of this project and its research outputs to the public, scientists and to relevant administrative bodies, as well as for promoting and facilitating connections with business corporations, the public administration and commercial partners.
