Raquel Pedra Monteiro
MSc Student
I graduated in biology by the faculty of Sciences of University of Porto in 2013.
I am currently enrolled in the second year of my master course in Biodiversity Genetics and Evolution. I am doing my master thesis in the demographic history of the South Douro river wolf population, a population currently with less than 30 estimated individuals, under the supervision of Dr. Raquel Godinho. Using both historical and modern samples and Next generation technology I want to estimate the effective population size of this wolf population and to quantify the present and past population bottlenecks.
My main interest is in population genetics and its application to conservation.
