I’m interested mainly in animal behaviour in marine environments. My final undergraduate project was about female social hierarchy in Mozambique tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus). Currently I'm working on my master’s thesis where I'm studying the cleaning association between cleaner wrasse Centrolabrus exoletus and its clients.

The principal objectives are: 1) to generally characterize this species’ cleaning behaviour, 2) to estimate the importance of ontogeny and, of spatial and temporal variations on these individuals cleaning behaviour, 3) to determine the relevance of cleaning in the overall diet of these cleaners and 4) to determine the feeding preference of these cleaners. The fieldwork is developed at the Berlengas Marine Park and involves SCUBA diving surveys to do underwater observations.

This project is supervised by Dr. Marta Soares (CIBIO) and Prof. Dr. Paulo Gama Mota (UC - University of Coimbra).
