Maria Leonor Ribeiro Martins
PhD Student
I took my bachelor degree in Biology at Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto in 2012. In 2017, I finished my MSc degree in Plants’ Functional Biology and Biotechnology from the same institution.
I joined the Microbial Diversity and Evolution Group at CIBIO-InBIO to work on a FCT funded project PTDC/BIA-EVF/3635/2014 aiming to study the diversity and evolution of phytopathogenic bacterium Xanthomonas arboricola pv. juglandis (Xaj), the causal agent for bacterial canker in walnut trees.
Currently, I am a PhD student interested in discovering molecular markers of virulence and pathogenicity for Xaj, in order to perform accurate epidemiological risk assessments.
