I completed my Masters degree in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution at the University of Porto in 2016, during which I worked on understanding the eco-evolutionary drivers of reproductive diversification in the North-African Fire salamander (Salamandra algira) using a combination of population genetics, ecological niche modeling and remote sensing.

I’m currently enrolled in the BIODIV PhD program at CIBIO. My PhD project expands across my previously established interest in reproductive diversification in salamanders, by seeking to understand the eco-evolutionary and biogeographic context of the emergence of terrestrial reproduction and closely associated phenotypic traits in the genus Salamandra.

I’ve recently began working on a new project, in which I will apply a remote sensing and earth observation framework to the maping and monitoring of eucalyptus plantation in the Iberian Peninsula, while aiming to quantify the potential for habitat restoration in eucalyptus-dominated areas..
