I am a graduate with a degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Ecology from this same institution. My thesis is an attempt to analyze how environmental factors affect the wood anatomy of selected plant species.
As a researcher, I have participated in the study of charred botanical material from archaeological sites in Portugal, in an effort to improve the understanding of the sites themselves, as well as the evolution of landscape and in landscape use.
I have a keen passion for the field of taxonomy, as well as for plant phylogeny and ontogeny and their relation to evolution. I maintain a scholarly interest in comparative anatomy, entomology and the history of science. A firm believer in the necessity of science communication, I attempt to engage in it whenever an opportunity presents itself.
