A vegetation ecologist, phytosociologist and vascular plant taxonomist. Interests are vegetation classification, habitat typology, habitat and species distribution modelling in relation to climate change; conservation biology. Focus on mediterranean and macaronesian forests ecology and vegetation. He is also the head of the important herbaria LISE, LISFA and ELVE.
