Joana Rebelo Capela

I am a highly committed professional with over 15 years of working experience as Principal Ecologist and Project Manager in a top multinational engineering firm, I have led and collaborated in over 30 environmental projects for the industry, construction, energy and public sectors. As such, I have dealt with a broad spectrum of technical requirements linked to several targets for nature conservation and impact mitigation. Currently I am the PMO for Corporate Biodiversity in a Partnership between CIBIO and SONAE

In a brief insight of my professional trajectory and experience, I highlight the following: 

• I have successfully managed 3 large projects (over half million euros each), coordinated multidisciplinary teams with 15+ members and established collaborative multi-party networks across business sectors and disciplines; 

• I have been the author of 2 research theses and co-authored over 15 technical reports and management plans, alongside one peer-reviewed paper, 5 communications in scientific congresses and 1 poster; 

• I have collaborated in a variety of environmental reports, including pressures and impacts assessment, freshwater ecosystems studies and biodiversity indexes evaluation; 

• I have a Master Degree in Ecology and Environmental Management and a post-graduation course in Sustainability Management. I have also attended a variety of training courses namely on Project Management, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability; 

• I am a strategic thinker, proactive, collaborative and enthusiastic person, and I’m keen to focus on new challenges. I have international work experience in Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom. I am Portuguese native and fluent in both English and Spanish.
