At present, my research interests relate to the conservation of indigenous domestic breeds, specifically concerning the divulgation of its important role in the ecosystems maintenance and public recognition of its broad benefits to society. My current participation in the project SERRALVES 360º | landscape and biodiversity, a joint collaboration between Fundação de Serralves and CIBIO-InBIO, focus on the promotion of scientific literacy about biodiversity to a broad audience underlying in the Serralves annual program of activities relating to biodiversity, genetic heritage and conservation of traditional agricultural ecosystems.

The PhD in Veterinary Science (Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, University of Porto, 2000) and graduation in Animal Science (University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, 2008), allowed my collaboration in several scientific research projects concerning a wide range different areas like the development of agricultural economic indexes, quantitative genetics and animal breeding, with special emphasis on the work carried for the PhD thesis in the genetic evaluation of dairy cattle, namely finding strategies to solve some limitations of test-day models application in genetic evaluation of dairy cattle and evaluation of consequences on the accuracy of the breeding values estimation.
