Joana Bencatel
MSc Student
I have a degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP). In the last year of my course, in 2013, I had an undergrad internship at CIBIO-InBIO focused on the “Analysis of the distribution patterns of carnivorous mammals in Portugal: contribution to a national atlas” oriented by Francisco Álvares (CIBIO-InBIO) and Luís Miguel Rosalino (CBA).
IIn 2014 I became a master student in the Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution course at CIBIO-InBIO/FCUP. Currently I am developing the project I started during my undergrad internship as a master thesis focusing on the current knowledge and distribution of the mammalian carnivore guild in Portugal, under the guidance of Márcia Barbosa (CIBIO-InBIO, Évora) and Francisco Álvares.
My areas of interest involve mammalian ecology, behavior and conservation, with special interest in carnivores.
