I am an evolutionary ecologist mainly interested in the evolution of plant pollination and mating systems. During my PhD I studied the evolution of plant generalist systems at the population level, assessing how differences among plant individuals in phenotype and micro-environment shape the patterns of plant-pollinator interactions, modulating the patterns of mating and the spatial genetic structure. To do so I integrated network science, spatial statistics and population genetic analyses. Previously I worked on other related fields such as plant mating systems, foraging behaviour of stingless bees or seed dispersal of a tropical palm tree, among others.
Currently, I am involved in a project that uses use next generation sequencing and bioinformatic tools to decipher the genetic basis of the different resistance factors of coffee plants to rust.
