I am interested in the use of genetics to reconstruct the history of my homeland- the archipelago of Cape Verde, which harbors one of the most admixed populations of the world, resulting from the intermixing of European and African populations. My master’s work aims to characterize the distribution of chromosome X fragments with European and African ancestry in male individuals from different islands of the archipelago.

This work is part of a broader project that aims to characterize the admixed structure of Cape Verde to infer its population history and analyze the genetic basis of different complex traits.
