I finished my BSc in 2013 at the University of Applied Sciences Lübeck (Germany). The focus of my Bachelor thesis was to characterize a Linalool – Isomerase, produced by the bacteria Thauera linaloolentis 47LolT. In September 2013, I started my MSc studies in at the University of Bremerhaven (Germany). My research interests include the development of DNA-based methods for the identification and characterization of bacteria.

The aim of my current research at the MDE group is to analyze populations of mastitis-causing bacteria Streptococcus uberis. These strains will be screened, using PCR- and hybridization-based methods, in order to determine the presence of specific genes related to virulence, adherence and invasion, survival inside the host and resistance to antibiotics. In addition an MLST approach will help to determine the most relevant bacterial clonal lineages in the studied herds. Altogether, this work will allow to gain a better insight into the epidemiology of Streptococcus uberis strains responsible for recurring mastitis infections.
