I am a Molecular Ecologist with a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Applied Ecology, both awarded by the University of Aveiro. After finishing my MSc, I worked as a laboratory technician in an aquaculture/biochemistry company and as a research assistant in a next-generation sequencing unit.
My research interests focus on the use of state-of-the-art genomic tools to answer ecological questions and to inform management and conservation strategies in vulnerable ecosystems.
I am currently a PhD student at CIBIO and my thesis is titled "Changing seas: Unravelling the genomic diversity, connectivity and climate resilience of deep-sea habitat-forming sponges".
