Angel Arcones Segovia
PhD Student
I am an evolutionary biologist from Madrid (Spain). I received my degree in Biology from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, and got my master’s degree in Evolutionary Biology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. I currently work as a PhD student under the supervision of David Vieites.
My research focuses around the evolution of non-passerine migratory birds along the Pleistocene (2,5Mya – 11Kya).
I apply an integrative approach, combining molecular analyses, evolutionary models and species distribution models. By doing so, I am able to assess the role of climatic events in their current diversity, distribution and migratory behaviour; as well as providing forecasts.
I carry most of my research at the Natural History Museum of Madrid (Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales).
