I obtained a Master’s degree in Ecology, Environment and Territory in 2011, from the University of Porto, Portugal. During my academic studies I obtained an in-depth training in the fields of forest ecology, conservation biology and natural resource management.

Since 2011, I have been affiliated to the Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO-InBIO). Involved in several Research and Development projects at both national and European (FP7) levels, my work has been focused on the ecological assessment of mountain areas, aimed at exploring forest biodiversity responses to current and future environmental changes (both climate- and land use-related). My scientific research has been towards the analysis of spatial distribution patterns of plant communities and their relationship with environmental drivers, comprising (a) novel approaches and tools to community-level modelling, (b) statistical and spatially-explicit analysis methods for the analysis of plant community diversity (both native and exotic), and (c) a strong contribution for plant biodiversity conservation, monitoring and reporting through policy support and decision making options in rural landscapes.

More recently, I am a PhD student from the BioDiv PhD programme with a focus on the identification of indicators for evaluating forest resilience, in terms of biodiversity and ecosystem services’ support, in order to support land management and planning.
