Currently, I’m a member of the research project “Coastal4cast - Incorporation of habitat heterogeneity and physiology in meta-population models to predict the effects of climate change at continental scales” (PI: Fernando P. Lima).
My main task in this project is to quantify the expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs) in intertidal mollusks, especially limpets of the genus Patella, under various thermal stress scenarios.
Thus far I have analyzed samples from an ongoing large-scale field monitoring experiment as well as from several chronic and acute stress experiments undertaken in our wet-lab facilities. In addition, I am also participating in the developing of bio-mimicking temperature sensors for several intertidal species and other tasks involving electronics.
