Ana Balibrea

Ana Balibrea has a degree in Biology from the University of Granada (Spain) and a master's degree in Biodiversity and Biotechnology from the University of the Azores. Currently, she is a PhD student at the University of Azores. Her study is focused on functional ecosystem processes in stream on oceanic islands with the aim of understanding how the process of organic matter decomposition mediated by macroinvertebrates and aquatic hyphomycetes is developed in the Azores Islands. Ana has worked the last years in the Azores archipelago in freshwater monitoring programs to assess water ecological status through biological indicators and collaborated in the regional strategy for the prevention and control of invasive alien species in aquatic ecosystems.
