WORKSHOP SUPPORTED BY CIBIO-InBIO CALLS ATTENTION ON THE IMPORTANCE OF MOZAMBIQUE’S PARTICIPATION IN GBIF

On May 26, 2016, Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), in Maputo, will host the workshop “Importância da Participação de Moçambique no Sistema Global de Informaçâo Sobre Biodiversidade (GBIF)” [“Importance of the Mozambique’s Participation in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF)”].

 

The workshop, co-organized by UEM and by the Portuguese Node of GBIF with the support of CIBIO-InBIO, is part of GBIF’s PALOP capacity building project, coordinated by the Portuguese Node of GBIF with the support of GBIF.


The main goals of this one-day workshop include:

  • Raising awareness about GBIF, its infrastructure and functioning;
  • Pinpoint the benefits of Mozambique’s participation in GBIF;
  • Discuss the establishment of the Mozambican Node of GBIF.


Present in this workshop, aimed at the collaborators of Mozambican or international institutions which have developed relevant work in the country, will be the Deputy Director of GBIF’s International Secretariat, Tim Hirsch.
