SCVZ DESERTAS FUND ANNOUNCES RESEARCH GRANTS – 2018 EDITION

The book is the final product of a project from the “Sociedade Caboverdiana de Zoologia – SCVZ” funded by the Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP) in 2011, whose printing in 2015 was funded by the government of Cabo Verde through the National Directorate for the Environment (DNA) “Ministério do Ambiente, Habitação e Ordenamento do Território (MAHOT)” with the support of University of Cabo Verde and CIBIO-InBIO.

The money gathered from the sales, has been applied to create a fund for research fellowships to be granted by the SCVZ for students and researchers from Cabo Verde and from Europe, to study the remote Desertas Islands in the field of Zoology and other related disciplines.

An evaluating committee, formed by members from CIBIO-InBIO, from the University of Cabo Verde, from Santa Luzia and Ilhéus Reserved Area and from ONG Biosfera I, will evaluate the applications received until 2nd April 2018. The candidates/projects selected will be announced in the end of May 2018.

FUNDO SCVZ DESERTAS ATRIBUI BOLSAS DE INVESTIGAÇÃO – EDIÇÃO 2018

As bolsas serão financiadas pelos fundos arrecadados na venda do livro “História Natural das Ilhas Desertas – Santa Luzia, Branco e Raso” editado com o apoio do CIBIO-InBIO.

O livro resulta do projecto da Sociedade Caboverdiana de Zoologia – SCVZ, financiado pelo Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP) em 2011, cuja impressão em 2015 foi financiada pelo Governo de Cabo Verde e Ministério do Ambiente, Habitação e Ordenamento do Território (MAHOT) e também com o apoio da Universidade de Cabo Verde e o CIBIO-InBIO.

A receita angariada gerou um fundo para financiamento de bolsas de investigação atribuídas pela SCVZ a estudantes e investigadores de Cabo Verde e Europa para estudar as Ilhas Desertas nas áreas da Zoologia e disciplinas associadas.

O comité de avaliação, formado por membros do CIBIO-InBIO, da Universidade de Cabo Verde, da Reserva Santa Luzia e Ilhéus e da ONG Biosfera I, vai avaliar as candidaturas até dia 2 de Abril de 2018. Os candidatos/ projectos seleccionados serão anunciados no final de Maio de 2018.
