RICARDO JORGE LOPES WAS INTERVIEWED ON RTP NEWS

TV reporters followed a CIBIO-InBIO expedition to Portugal's Douro region, in which the National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore documented local threatened species.

In this context, CIBIO-InBIO researcher, Ricardo Jorge Lopes, provided details about the black wheatear (Oenanthe leucura) also known as port wine bird. The last major population of this species in Portugal is restricted to Douro region.

National Geographic Photo Ark aims to document every species currently in the world’s zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, to engage people towards wildlife conservation.
