The online Platform Notícias UP highlighted the professional profile of Joana Paupério, who was targeted as a "Pessoa UP”. In the interview, published on November 23, 2015, the researcher talked about her academic pathway and her main research interests throughout her scientific career.

Joana’s work focuses on small mammal’s evolution and conservation genetics. She has participated in several projects of conservation biology and most recently, was also involved in the study that confirmed the first record of occurrence of European snow vole (Chionomys nivalis) in Portugal.
In addition to her research work, Joana also participates in several science communication and education initiatives, which allow her to raise awareness about the ecological and environmental importance of small mammal’ conservation.
