InBIO SECURES 14 FCT RESEARCHER CONTRACTS IN THE 2014 CALL

Since its establishment in 2012, the FCT Investigator Programme has been providing 5-year funding for: i) post-doctoral researchers with a solid track record (Starting Grants); ii) researchers with an excellent track-record and proven experience of independent research, who intend on developing their leadership career path (Development Grants); and iii) established independent and leading researchers, with exceptional curricula and track record, who wish to consolidate their careers (Consolidation Grants). The main goal of this Programme is “to create a talent base of scientific leaders/…/, across all scientific areas and nationalities”.

This year, from the almost 1400 eligible applications received by FCT, a total of 514 passed along to the second stage of evaluation. From these, 228 were recommended for funding following the final evaluation process.

From the 38 applications originally submitted by InBIO, 25 went through to the second stage of evaluation. Within the InBIO universe, the success rate for these applications rose from 37% to 56% in the second phase. In the end, a total of 14 InBIO researchers were awarded FCT Investigator grants:
