CIBIO-InBIO PARTICIPATES IN AN INTERNATIONAL PROJECT TO PRESERVE DOURO RIVER

Douro Vivo Network will work with communities to promote integrated water resources management, map biodiversity and assess the impact of human activities on Douro hydrological basin in Portugal and Spain.

The project will last five years and its goals are to consider alternatives to the new dams’ construction, to analyze and understand which dams are still useful and to promote the removal of useless ones. It will also try to propose solutions for Douro protection.
This initiative is led by GEOTA (Environmental and Land Use Planning Study Group) and involves 10 more institutions, associations and research centers.
