CÉSAR CAPINHA WAS INTERVIEWED ON TV PROGRAM BIOSFERA

The weekly magazine, which covers various environmentally related topics, has highlighted the mosquitoes' dispersal and their impact on human health.

In the episode broadcasted on March 17, 2018, CIBIO-InBIO researcher César Capinha explains how invasive species, specifically mosquitoes, are moving between different areas due to human action. He also refers to the fundamental role of climate in the definition of this distribution, and revels what we may expect for the mosquito species’ future distribution in Portugal.

In addition, the researcher calls attention to the fact that some alien species can become invasive and create serious risks to other species, including humans, such as the mosquito Aedes aegypti, that is an important disease vector.
